Bio

Family Man. Teacher. Writer.

(Usually in that order.)

M. J. Lau was born and mostly raised in York, Pennsylvania. He moved about a dozen times as a kid, changing schools almost annually. His longest stay was at York Suburban, where he graduated in 1998. He stuck around his hometown a few more years, earning his English degree at York College.

Over the years, Lau worked at multiple restaurants, a printing company, and did a stint as a telemarketer that he’d rather not talk about. For the past decade, he has been a public school teacher in Lancaster County, PA, inspiring at least a passing interest in English among his hundreds of amazing students.

Lau has published several poems and essays over the years, but his first novel The Buried Few was released in 2017. He followed this with a gamer lit trilogy, The Virtual Realms. He is currently working on a fantasy series, which is his favorite genre.

Currently, Lau lives in Lancaster County with his lovely wife and three wonderful children. When he’s not teaching or writing, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and playing games with his family.

Lastly, he would like to go on record that he’s not normally the kind of person to talk about himself in third person, but that seems to be the thing to do in your bio so he just went with it.
