Getting Started

If you checked out my One Year to Make It (#OYTMI) post already–well, first of all, thanks πŸ™πŸΌ! Also, you might still have some questions. I’ll try to answer some of the most common ones below:

1. What exactly are you doing for this challenge? For my #OYTMI challenge, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone in order to “make it”–in my case, that means grow my audience, inspire others, and improve as a writer. I’m still doing most of the things I’ve been posting on this blog: writing stories, tracking my progress, and doling out unsolicited advice. The challenge part is connecting–reaching people with my writing and helping them reach other people in turn.

2. What can I expect each day? Every day, you can expect another low-tech video like the one above, giving you some quick updates, insights, or motivation to keep you working toward whatever goal you have. These daily videos will provide encouragement and tips to other writers, how-to videos (“hacks” as my daughters love to call them), and occasional progress checks and sneak peeks of the actual writing I’m doing. I’m posting these videos on YouTube, TikTok (I know, I know…), and here:

3. Cool! Soo…how can you help me work toward my own #OYTMI goal? This is perhaps the most important part of OYTMI. I said in the first video that I feel confident I will succeed at “making it” because I have a clear goal and I’m going to keep moving toward it day by day. But what is your definition of “making it”? How can I help you move closer to your goal? The more I can help you, my actual audience, the more we both benefit from this ongoing public embarrassment that I’m doing πŸ˜‚

So give me feedback however you can: message me through this website, comment on YouTube or TikTok, wrap a note around a brick and–wait, maybe not that. Let me know if you like what you see, or if I can do anything different to get you as motivated as I am! πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨
