Setting Expectations

I expect this is the first thing many of you will read by me, so obviously I want it to provide an accurate picture of who I am. As a result, this will probably be a disorganized collection of random thoughts, subjected to a dozen revisions which will never live up to my level of satisfaction. Welcome to my mind!

Actually, I figure the best way to introduce myself is with a list. I LOVE lists — not in the “Type A, get stuff done” way, but more like random facts and quotes and the unnecessary ranking of things. So, here’s me in list form:

  • Happily married to my best friend
  • Father of three endlessly interesting kids (son – 17, daughters – 8 and 4)
  • Middle school English teacher (yes, thank you, your pity is appreciated)
  • Part-time author, poet, and all-around spinner of tales
  • Upper-tier nerd (not in any practical way — mostly history, philosophy, and gaming of all types)
  • Foodie and travel fanatic
  • Increasingly interested in health, ethics, and the well-being of all

Since this is who you’re dealing with, my posts will mostly involve:

  • Tips for teachers and writers
  • Updates on author-y stuff
  • Countless musings, poems, and stories (true and fantastical)
  • and of course, lots of random lists!

What you should NOT expect is ads. I will never run ads on this website. πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ If you like what I do and want to help me out, check out my books and leave reviews on Amazon. Many thanks in advance for the consideration.

Which brings me to the last thing you can expect here: gratitude. I am a very lucky person in many ways, and I take a great amount of joy in simply appreciating the wonders and opportunities around me. So above all, I want to express my sincere gratitude for you being here — for sharing some of your invaluable time and attention with me. I can only hope I make it worth your while.
